A led approximately 13-mile Broadway walk from the Staten Island ferry terminal to Riverdale, including park and food stops, participant suggestions for detours, and a possible three-mile extension to the Yonkers line; limited to 20 people.

Walk roughly 13 miles along Broadway from lower Manhattan to Riverdale with food and park detours, with an optional three-mile extension and a group limit of 20.

Back by popular demand, this is a repeat of a walk I've led each year for the past few years. We will meet Sunday, October 18, at the far south end of Manhattan outside of the Staten Island ferry terminal and complete our stroll at the Van Cortlandt Park-242nd Street IRT (1 Line) Station in Riverdale, Da Bronx. Total distance should be around 13 miles. Depending on our energy level at that point, we may add a bonus Broadway leg up to the Yonkers city line (approximately 3 more miles). Plan on stops along the way (hence, the late finish time), and some detours for food stops, parks (Fort Tryon Park for sure), and other points of interest. As those who've been on my walks before know, I welcome suggestions for small detours to or descriptions of points of interest, particularly from those who are familiar with the neighborhoods where we'll be passing. Since Broadway can get very crowded in spots, we may walk on parallel streets at certain points to keep at a reasonable pace (this is not a speed walk however!) I suspect that most of you are familiar with this walk, so I will skip a detailed description. I am open to suggestions as to a nice place to have a drink and bite at the end of our walk (hint: there's some great watering holes and restaurants in Inwood). One request: Please note that I am limiting the size of the group to 20. Out of fairness to those who might want to join the walk, I ask that you do not 'double book' for other walks that day.
