Something everyone in your industry accepts as “just how things work”. For someone thinking about starting a business, those frustrations could be a starting point. But how do you recognise an opportunity worth pursuing, persuade people to pay for your solution and get started before you have everything figured out? With AI opening up new possibilities, what could those opportunities look like in 2026? Our guest, Jacques Goudchaux, Chief Strategy Officer at Signal Ocean, has spent more than three decades doing exactly that. While working as a shipbroker, Jacques saw a problem: people making major commercial decisions were relying on scattered information and printed references that quickly went out of date. He believed a more complete, accessible picture of the market was something customers would pay for. His chairman was sceptical, but agreed to back the idea.
