Organizer’s description

Let's get together, eat pizza, and hear from local experts in CV and AI. In this event we hear from Kush Tiwary about the Principles of Visual Intelligence. As usual, we will also hear lightning talks and announcements from local companies who are hiring in our field. Kush is a final-year PhD student at MIT studying how intelligence emerges through embodied interactions, and building artificial intelligence systems capable of making novel discoveries. His work has been published and exhibited at multiple international conferences, and locally such as at TedX Boston, the Museum of Science, and the MIT Museum. Abstract: Computer vision is facing an unusual kind of existential crisis: its own success. Over the past decade, advances in artificial intelligence have transformed what machines can see and do, from object recognition and 3D reconstruction to video generation and autonomous systems. As traditional tasks and benchmarks become increasingly saturated, an important question emerges: Where should computer vision go next? In this talk, I will argue that this apparent crisis is a boon in disguise. It presents an opportunity to return to the deeper scientific questions that helped give rise to the field: What are the principles behind visual intelligence and what is the "process" by which intelligence emerged?
