Organizer’s description

Like a Book Club, but for Records Sleeves is back on Wednesday, October 28th, and this one's special. We're listening to and learning about Dispatch's 1997 cult classic album Bang Bang, and Dispatch co-founder Pete Francis will be in the room to share stories and guide our listen. This is a rare behind the scenes look into how a classic record was made! Dispatch is one of the most successful independent bands of all time. With no label and no radio, they built a massive following one burned CD and Napster download at a time. Bang Bang is the album at the center of that story. The story of this album reflects a rapidly changing industry at the turn of the century and a change in how listeners discover, share, and listen to music. To end on a personal note, this album was a childhood favorite that features some of the earliest songs I learned to play on the guitar. Countless musicians I know share that story and that love of this music. 6:30: Doors 7:00: Needle Drop 7:40: Lecture, Discussion, Q&A, Hang etc. 9:00: Afters @ Scrappleland (1150 Manhattan Ave)
