Organizer’s description
Tiny Scotland has punched above its weight for centuries, in fields such as economics, engineering and philosophy, with Scottish explorers and expatriates mapping the globe, developing telecommunications, and building administrative systems across the British Empire and beyond. But it wasn’t always famous for its fine art, in spite of producing some excellent artists through the years. By the beginning of the twentieth century this had begun to change, and this talk will examine some of the most important Scottish artists and their important contributions to art history from 1900s up until the turn of the new millennium. Talk is by art historian Julia Marwood. Event organised by Stockport Art Guild. Refreshments will be available Free entry, booking essential on their website: https://www.ticketsource.com/stockportartguild/scottish-artists-free-art-talk-by-julia-marwood/e-qbeegvq . You can reserve up to 2 free tickets per booking. The talk starts at 1pm but it's best to be there and in your seat early so as not to disturb it. I'll be there, I look forward to seeing you too :)
