Recap of Part 8 Act 3, After the party wakes up in the morning at the centaur camp, Korak greets them and introduces them to their centaur guide Erdija, he also tells them the temp has dropped, and the ground is icy. Erdija has decided to cross the river at the bridge at the town of Vurnirn. The party decides to do some shopping there, and they all pick up some boot cleats for the ice. After leaving town, and crossing the river, they make their way through the forest and into the dry and icy riverbed between the cliffs. Late in the afternoon they run into a dark rider on a large elk, after a round of discussion on what to do the party attacks. Anakis starts with casting shield, and a move to the rider, Zuar recognizes it, a Cold Rider, and transforms into a dinosaur, Gutrender moves in to attack riding his wolf. The cold rider hits the party with an ice storm, and then they all end up in melee. The party surrounds the rider gaining flanking, Gutrenders wolf is able to trip the Elk, separating it from the rider. After killing the elk, they concentrate on the rider, Zaur is able to grapple the rider in his mouth, and Gutrender finishes him off. After healing they set up camp to rest for the night. Zaur gets the first watch but does not detect the Andrazku Demons that would attack at night.
