Organizer’s description
Peter Gleick is one of the world's true experts on water systems. In his latest book is When The Well Is Dry: How Water Fuels Violence and Shapes Peace, Gleick traces the history of water and violence, weaving together historical accounts, personal reflections, and analysis. Spanning over four thousand years, the book examines how water has shaped conflicts, from ancient civilizations to contemporary crises, such as Syria’s civil war and Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, as well as detailing the evolution of modern environmental security studies. Gleick, a MacArthur Fellow, will join us for an evening exploring the themes of this work.
