Organizer’s description

Fridman Gallery is honored to present Body Actualized, a group exhibition examining relationships between external physical environments and internal mind-spaces. The exhibition includes Daniel Neumann’s 8-channel sound installation Dilation, which tunes sustained drones to subjective resonances (felt vibration) and the acoustic space of the gallery. The tones are carefully calibrated to produce beating, interference patterns, and microtonal shimmering in the air, unfolding across multiple loudspeakers. The sound installation will be in conversation with paintings by Naomi Lisiki and Will Maxen, and works on handmade washi paper by Alexa Kumiko Hatanaka, each of whom articulates subtle fluctuations in perception through unique material expressions of shifting landscapes and color gradients. In the project space: Madeleine Skrzynecka A World of Her Own Madeleine's paintings are fragments of a world between memory and imagination. The women who inhabit it are occupying public settings, yet their presence feels quiet and private. Madeleine is interested in femininity in its most delicate sense: sensitivity, intimacy, softness, ritual, and the inner life beneath the visible. Her heroines belong to an imagined universe, moving through rooms, gardens, summer landscapes, and interiors that feel strangely familiar. Their silhouettes, clothes, gestures, and surroundings are a language of their own. The monochromatic blue creates a certain distance, but also a sense of safety.
