Organizer’s description
Women are some of horror’s biggest fans - and some of its most iconic villains. At this monthly book club from Long Dark House, our reads will take a feminist lens to the genre’s complicated relationship with womanhood. We’ll explore not just what makes a monster, but who decides what is monstrous: what our ideas of monstrosity might reveal about power, patriarchy, and pleasure. Expect discussions about bodies and beauty, rage and desire, gender and “the other,” and what we believe about those who live outside the lines. NOV Pick: salt slow by Julia ArmfieldNote: this club is inclusive of all genders! And whether you’re a horror virgin or final girl material -- we can’t wait to welcome you to the house. Sharpen your claws. Bare your teeth. Let's become what they fear.
