Organizer’s description
ANCESTOR MEDICINE Your body carries more than just your own story. Behind you are the women who came before you—their resilience and grief, their wisdom and longing, their unfinished songs. Some of their stories were passed down. Others were silenced or lost to migration, war, assimilation, rupture, and time. Yet something remains in the ways we love, the ways we protect ourselves, the rituals we keep without knowing why, the gifts that seem to have come from somewhere beyond us, the things we are here to carry forward, and the things that may be ours to lay down. As the year turns toward darkness at a time when the veil is thin, we gather to turn toward the women (and men) behind us. Through guided meditation, breath, sound, and ritual, we will quiet the thinking mind and listen for what arises. Rose will be our medicine once again, holding our hearts as we make space for what has traveled through generations: the wounds, but also the beauty, resilience, wisdom, and medicine. Through small-circle sharing, we will explore what we have inherited, what we want to reclaim, and what we are ready to release. You do not need to know your family history to belong here. You are invited to adorn yourself with something that honors your ancestors or lineage—a piece that carries memory, meaning, or connection to those who came before you.
