Organizer’s description
As AI becomes more powerful, the risks of AI are increasing too. Recent events, such as AI breaking outside of its containment to hack an external company and the departure of AI lab employees over safety concerns, have helped shine a spotlight on these risks. Let’s come together to make sense of AI by learning more about the state of the technology, sharing our questions, and charting ways we can have an impact on the course of this technology. Who should come Everyone! This event is open to the public, although we anticipate many members and friends of the VanU congregation to join us. No prior technical knowledge is necessary to participate in this event. Agenda 12:30 — Doors open 12:40 - 1:10 — Presentation covering the state of AI, risks from AI and avenues to improve the situation. 1:10 - 2:00 — Small group discussions as well as opportunities to share with the larger group. Light refreshments will be provided outside of the VanU sanctuary area (as no food is allowed in this area). About the hosts The event is organized and hosted by John Henderson and Paul Prescod.
