After a hugely successful first jam, I’m pleased to announce our next session! Last time, five of us got together to play some blues, experiment with improvisation and find our feet playing with other musicians. We had a few wrong turns along the way, and that’s exactly what this group is about: learning to live with mistakes , getting more confident, listening to each other and having fun. This time, we’re focusing on rhythm, groove and playing together. SESSION OUTLINE 🌞Two chord jam: C7 to F7 To get warmed up without feeling overwhelmed we’ll kick off with a two-chord jam. Let's get in the zone before exploring how different drum rhythms, can transform the feel of the music. Drummers: I’d love you to come prepared with two different rhythms of your choice for our warm-up jam. We’ll use them to explore how the whole band can adapt. Same two chords, different vibe. 🎹 Tunes Please have a listen to these three tracks before the session, and familiarise yourself with the chord changes in these keys: * I Put a Spell on You — E minor (Em) - so many good versions , my fave is Creedence Clearwater Revival * Purple Rain — B-flat major (B♭) - one of Prince's finest and nice and slow for us beginners * The Wind Cries Mary — F major (F) - Jimi Hendrix storytelling at its finest. 🎸 All musicians welcome: piano/keys, guitar, bass, drums, saxophone, vocals and harmonica.
