Thank you for arriving 15 minutes early so that we may begin on time. New to Laughter Yoga? No experience necessary. All you need is the willingness to laugh. No yoga poses, mats or special equipment needed. All exercises can be performed seated, standing or moving about. Go at your own pace and do as much or as little as you wish. Dress comfortably, pack a bottle of water. Fun Facts: * Laughter Yoga originated in India in 1995 and is the creation of physician Dr. Madan Kataria. * Laughter Yoga combines deep yogic breathing and laughter exercises (based on everyday situations, rather than on jokes and comedy. ) So our laughter is not necessarily humor based. * Laughter yogis choose to laugh through all kinds of situations- good and bad, which fosters resilience in everyday situations. * When we use our diaphragms and laugh for an extended period of time, we 1) increase oxygen to our heart and brains. This enhances our circulation and promotes good health. * Laughter Yoga's breathwork (pranayama) and final meditation (yoga nidra) helps to calm the parasympathetic nervous system. * The extended laughter releases happy chemicals. We experience increased levels of dopamine, oxytocin, serotonin & endorphins.
