Organizer’s description
A Philosophy Evening with Dr. Nash Jocic Why is suffering such an inseparable part of human existence? Is happiness anything more than a temporary escape from life's struggles? And can we transform suffering into wisdom, strength and self-overcoming? Join us for a fascinating evening exploring three extraordinary minds: Ivo Andrić, Arthur Schopenhauer and Friedrich Nietzsche — three profoundly different thinkers united by their penetrating insights into human nature, suffering, solitude and the complexities of existence. Ivo Andrić, Nobel Prize-winning novelist and master observer of the human condition, reveals the silent tragedies, contradictions and enduring struggles of human life through his remarkable literary and philosophical reflections. Arthur Schopenhauer, one of philosophy's greatest pessimists, sees human existence as driven by an insatiable will, condemning us to an endless cycle of desire, dissatisfaction and suffering. Friedrich Nietzsche, in contrast, challenges us not merely to endure suffering but to affirm life, overcome ourselves and create meaning through courage, creativity and the will to power. During this evening, we will explore: * Why suffering occupies such a central place in all three thinkers. * Andrić's profound observations on human nature, solitude and destiny. * Schopenhauer's pessimism and his philosophy of the will. * Nietzsche's response to pessimism: life affirmation, self-overcoming and *amor fati*.
