Organizer’s description

Free CommUNITY Event Intro to Meditation + Yoga Philosophy + CommUNITY Kirtan with Jovon Salazar, Patita Pavana and Ted Takeuchi of Spirit Soul And Friends® Saturdays - 10:30am-11:45am / Sep. 5th, Nov. 7th and Dec. 5th Location: Yoga Sanctum LA, 13563 Telegraph Road, Ste. 130, Whittier, CA 90605 https://www.yogasanctumla.com/ Class Description: Curious about meditation but not sure where to begin? This class is a friendly introduction to the yogic approach to meditation—beyond “clearing your mind” or sitting perfectly still. We’ll explore what meditation is, why it matters, and how to practice in a way that feels accessible and meaningful. You’ll be guided through simple, grounding practices including mantra meditation, japa (repetition), and an introduction to kirtan (call-and-response chanting). We’ll also weave in light yoga philosophy to give context—so you understand the purpose behind the practice, not just the technique. No experience necessary. Come as you are—curious, open, or even skeptical. This is a space to learn, ask questions, and build a practice you can actually take home.
