Organizer’s description
You’re invited to a Halloween Reading Party! Dress up, bring your book, and join us for a night of reading, conversation, costumes, food & drinks, and Halloween mischief. Hyperion Avenue is presenting this year’s Reading Rhythms Queens Halloween party on a candlelit rooftop in Long Island City. The themed drinks (made with and without alcohol) and a spread of food are on us, and candy will be piled high on every table. We’ve tucked a few surprises into the evening, too, and the first 50 readers through the door will take home a free book from Hyperion Avenue’s fall horror and thriller list. Costumes are encouraged. Between the costumes and the candy, we’ll read together in two quiet blocks to a horror-scored playlist, pair up with a stranger to chat about what we’re reading, and close in small groups around spooky theme words chosen with Hyperion Avenue. This year’s featured titles: The Unheld by Luke Larkin The Paradox Club by Charlie Lovett Werewolves of Waffle Hutch by Reba McQueen This event is 21+, and we’ll check a valid government-issued photo ID at the door. Reading Rhythms is a series of welcoming reading parties designed to make it easy for people to gather and read socially. We invite you to bring any book you want and facilitate silent reading periods, as well as 1-on-1 breakouts, and group discussions to pull on the threads of the books that everyone is engaging with.
