Organizer’s description
This event in both online on Zoom (Meeting ID: 896 9038 2507 Passcode: 11092026) and in-person at the Microsoft Inclusive Tech Lab. Come chat with authors Lainey Feingold, Matt May, Margaux Joffe, and Meena Das. They are 4 of 39 authors of the new book Digital Accessibility Ethics: Disability Inclusion in All Things Tech. This event is being graciously hosted by Bryce Johnson at the Microsoft Inclusive Tech Lab. Digital Accessibility Ethics: Disability Inclusion in All Things Tech is a multi-author guide that argues digital accessibility is fundamentally a matter of human rights and ethics rather than just a technical checklist or legal compliance. The goal is to help eliminate routine technological exclusion affecting 1.3 billion people worldwide who live with disabilities. Contributors consist of 39 disabled and non-disabled authors from 10 countries and one commonwealth, bringing over 600 years of combined advocacy, disability, and accessibility experience. The text introduces the Digital Accessibility Ethics Framework, an action-oriented, three-part system built around values, actions, and questions to challenge and dismantle patterns of exclusion.
