Organizer’s description
The California Young Artists Symphony presents the opening capstone concert of its sixth season with an unforgettable evening of music at the distinguished Kavli Theatre in Thousand Oaks. The program revolves around two monumental works: Elgar's Concerto in b-minor and Prokofiev's 5th Symphony. Prokofiev's 5th Symphony is considered to be one of his greatest and was written when he returned to Moscow during World War 2. Elgar's Violin Concerto is one of the great masterworks of violin literature, written for legendary violinist Fritz Kreisler. The program opens with Elgar's beautiful "Sospiri," or "Sighs." The program is led by Maestro Alexander Tseitlin (Director of CYAS and Lyceum Oaks) and features the Grand Prize Winner of the 2026 California Young Artists Competition, violinist Ezra Shcolnik (Juilliard, Colburn). Everyone (including infants) entering the theatre must have a paid ticket regardless of age or seating requirements.
