Organizer’s description

Today, we will explore Cougar Mountain, and try out two new bus routes to get there. Our adventure begins at South Bellevue P&R at 10:00. Our first bus, route 203, leaves at 10:09. Meet the group at the bus stop, underneath the Link station. We will take this bus to a stop along Newport Way, near the Big Tree Ridge Trailhead. From there, we will hike up through about 3-4 miles of forest trails to reach a viewpoint overlooking Lake Washington. We will then partially retrace our steps, but take a different branch near the end, so we come out at Issaquah Transit Center, where we can take a different bus back, the 556. The event ends when we reach South Bellevue P&R, however, those that wish may remain on the bus to downtown Bellevue. Approximate route map: https://maps.app.goo.gl/BUVs5sN9Wns6qUtu6). In the event of rain, the hike will be shortened, but we will still hike, even if we don't reach the view. Exact route to be determined the day of.
