Civic Jam

Spend a weekend using service design tools to tackle real civic challenges in Atlanta! Civic Jam is a three-day, hands-on design jam hosted by SDN Atlanta in partnership with Civic Tech Atlanta, with thanks to our host sponsor, Harmonic. Unlike a hackathon, this event is workshop focused, with big-picture thinking, and scrappy prototyping. You'll join a small team, dig into a civic challenge, and take it through the full service design process, from understanding the audience, to framing the problem, and eventually sharing your solution ideas at the end of the weekend. When * Friday, Nov 13: 6:00–8:00 PM * Saturday, Nov 14: 9:00 AM–6:00 PM * Sunday, Nov 15: 9:00 AM–1:00 PM Who should come * Researchers * Designers * Product folks * Public servants * Students, and * Civic-curious are all welcome. Teams are formed on site, so come solo or bring a friend. No government experience needed (but encouraged)! What you'll get * Hands-on experience applying service design to real civic challenges * Talks from local practitioners—speaker details will be posted soon. * Coaching from experienced service design mentors all weekend * Career extras: resume reviews and elevator-pitch practice * A weekend of connecting with Atlanta's design and civic tech community Your ticket covers meals, snacks, and workshop supplies for the weekend.
