AI Literacy for Educators - A One-Day Hands-On Workshop Please Register on Luma or youwon't get the provided lunch! You’ve heard about AI. You’ve probably used it. But can you explain to a student why it got something wrong—or why it got something right? This hands-on workshop is designed to go beyond simply using AI tools. We want to understand the challenges educators face in the classroom and help you build a deeper understanding of how AI works, where it fails, and how to use it critically and responsibly. What to expect This first session is all about building a strong foundation. You’ll train a biased AI model, explore how AI systems fail, and develop a practical mental framework you can apply to any AI tool. More importantly, we want to hear from you. What challenges are you facing in the classroom? Where could AI make a meaningful difference for teachers and students? Agenda 9:00 AM – Welcome and introductions 9:30 AM – MA AI Hub, MassTech Collaborative: Supporting AI literacy and innovation in education 9:40 AM – Part 1: Understanding AI. Look behind the screen: how AI works, why it gets things wrong, and how to use it with confidence and critical judgment. 11:40 AM – Part 2: Designing with AI. Bring a real classroom challenge and, with your peers, design an AI-supported idea for your students. Tech volunteers will support you along the way.
