Samhain Ritual - Descent Into the Underworld

Explore your inner depths as we journey into the spirit realm to discover what death and rebirth hold for us this year. Visit with ancestors and guides, let go of what no longer feeds you, and make room for new growth. Samhain is the time of the year when the veil between the worlds - that of the seen and the unseen - is thinnest. This makes it the ideal time to communicate with energy, deities, ancestors, and other forces that live among us and aid our work on earth. In Pagan rituals and circles, we work only with energies of light and love. This will be a full Pagan ritual and will include calling the 6 directions - the quarters, above and below - and invoking the energy of the Goddess and Horned God. However, we will not work within a specific pantheon this evening, to keep the experience open to various Pagan (and non-Pagan) perspectives. We will be outside for part of the ritual (weather permitting), and a warm layer is recommended. Doors open at 5:30 PM; Ritual begins promptly at 6 PM with instructions for the evening, so please be on time. A potluck feast in the Vestry follows the ritual - please bring a dish to share if you are able. This event is free and open to the public. Donations to UUCAV are always welcome.
