Join us in the studio for an afternoon of customizing rice paper lampshades with paper cut collage and decoupage! Decoupage: the art of decorating an object by gluing paper cutouts onto a surface and sealing it with multiple layers of varnish or lacquer. The word comes from the French term découper, meaning "to cut out". We'll snip colorful shapes and motifs from tissue paper to adorn our own paper lampshades, tuning them into whimsical, one-of-a-kind art objects. Check out this Pinterest board for things that are possible! It will be colorful and calming and sooo very crafty. All craft materials + the 17x17in paper lampshade base are included. Lightbulb and cord will need to be purchased separately. Please note: This is not a rice paper lantern building workshop— you will be provided with a lantern to customize! Complimentary bevs provided, and snacks will be available for purchase. See you there!! What can I expect from a project at RecCreate? Projects are the perfect chance to finally make that thing you saved on tiktok or pinned months ago, where all you have to do is show up! We curate the coolest materials and walk you through it step by step. Naturally, you leave with the sickest me-made piece for yourself or as the sweetest gift. Projects are a great opportunity to try out a new craft without having to invest in all of the materials, alongside other creative humans.
