ART SOCIAL: HANDMADE JOURNALS WITH STEPHANIE JOYCE

A guided art/craft workshop where attendees make handmade journals in a supportive social setting.
Art Social is a monthly gathering where attendees enter into a supportive and judgment-free session of art/craftmaking and socializing. Bring your friends and expect to make new ones while tapping into your creative selves. Workshops will be led by experts in their practice, and the projects are designed to be easily and enjoyably accomplished by all skill levels. In this workshop, Stephanie Joyce will guide us in the creation of a beautiful journal that is uniquely your own. We’ll begin by designing a handmade cover, experimenting with color, texture and mark-making. You’ll learn how to fold and assemble the interior pages, and sew them into your cover. The stitching will remain exposed, becoming both an essential part of the structure and a design detail. No previous experience is necessary—just curiosity and a willingness to explore. All basic materials will be provided. You’re also welcome to bring along any decorative papers, bookmaking tools, found materials, or other treasures you’d like to incorporate into your journal.
