Water as Portal: a Suminagashi Workshop

Local artist Fan Kong will introduce beginners to the oldest form of paper marbling called suminagashi ("floating ink"). This meditative practice involves printing patterns on paper by floating colors on the surface of water. Fan will lead us on a guided meditation on our local waterways, opening up a portal where we can notice water as both collaborator and medium. We will learn to create and experiment with this technique within small groups, and take home individual and/or collaborative print
