A challenging birthday group hike covering 14.5 miles from Hill of Life to Zilker Park and back, with breaks and optional earlier turnarounds.
Hike the 14.5-mile Barton Creek Greenbelt out-and-back from Hill of Life at a supportive group pace, with rocky terrain and an estimated six to eight hours; shorter-distance hikers must navigate back independently or coordinate with another hiker.
***UPDATE #2: I'm so sorry y'all, I will have to reschedule this hike to 10/25. I will have to support a family member tomorrow and won't be able to host this hike anymore.*** **UPDATE: I forgot this is going to be the last day of ACL! We need to avoid Zilker Park parking like the plague!!! We will switch up this route and will meet at the Hill of Life Barton Creek Greenbelt Trailhead, then walk all the way to Zilker Park, and then back to Hill of Life!** Hey y’all, it’s my birthday week! And do you know what this crazy girl wants for her birthday?! To trek the entire 14.5 miles of the Barton Creek Greenbelt! Join Hike with Maddy ATX on Sunday, October 25 at 9:00AM, for an epic birthday hiking adventure. We will start at the **Hill of Life trailhead**, hike the entire 7.25 miles to **Zilker Park (it will be the last day of ACL!!)**, and then turn around and do it all again! **This will be a long and challenging hike over rocky, uneven terrain,** but we will keep a supportive group pace and take breaks along the way. I expect the full trek to take approximately 6 to 8 hours, depending on the group’s pace and how long we stop. **Not ready to commit to all 14.5 miles? No worries!** You are welcome to join us for as much of the hike as feels good to you. Since this is an out-and-back route, you can turn around earlier and return to the Hill of Life trailhead whenever you are ready.
