
Forest Fridays: Volunteer Forest Restoration at Van Cortlandt Park

Volunteers remove invasive honeysuckle and multiflora rose along the southern Old Croton Aqueduct Trail from 9 am to noon, with tools, gloves and guidance provided and no experience needed. Sessions are limited to 30 volunteers, ages 15 and older; minors need a signed waiver and groups of six or more must contact the organizer first.

Join the Van Cortlandt Park Alliance for forest restoration along the southern section of the Old Croton Aqueduct Trail. We remove invasive bush honeysuckle and multiflora rose by hand so native trees, shrubs and wildflowers can come back. Dates include Fridays weekly from October 2nd - October 30th. Dates are 10/2, 10/9, 10/16, 10/23, and 10/30. Meeting Details: Location: Classic Playground, Van Cortlandt Park South and Gouverneur Avenue. Meet at the public restroom building inside the playground. Time: 9:00 am - 12:00 pm. What to Bring: Long sleeves, long pants and sturdy closed-toed shoes Water and a snack Tools, gloves and guidance provided; no experience needed. Ages 15+ (minors need a signed waiver).
