Philosophy & Soup: AI Will Kill Us All — Or Are We Just the Roman Empire With GPUs? Join us in Cedar Park for soup, wine, and a discussion about civilizations, complexity, and losing control. Rome did not collapse because of one thing. Neither did the Maya. Large systems can become powerful, interconnected, fragile, and increasingly difficult for anyone inside them to fully understand or manage. So what happens when we build systems that become too complex to control? We’ll talk about: * Why civilizations collapse * Whether Rome became too large and complicated to manage * What the Maya can teach us about environmental and political stress * Why AI experts worry about control and alignment * Whether AI is fundamentally different from earlier human systems * And whether a machine that confidently ruins your recipe is the very small cousin of a much bigger problem No preparation or philosophy background required. I’ll bring the historical examples, images, and questions. You bring opinions. Wine is always welcomed. Sunday • 4:30 PM Cedar Park RSVP for address/details Soup served.
