11/1 | First Sunday: Dim Sum & Mahjong

Growing up in LA, dim sum followed by mahjong was a weekly ritual. A group of five families would gather for dim sum lunch before caravanning to one of our homes for hours of mahjong that stretched into the wee hours of the morning. Inspired by this tradition of ritual and gathering, we're continuing the "First Sundays" series at Nin Hao, with an all-you-can-eat dim sum buffet format. Come join us for an afternoon to learn Hong Kong-style mahjong and connect with friends and neighbors over dim sum and tea. What to Expect: 1:45PM to 2:15PM: Buffet 2:15PM to 2:45PM: Learning fundamentals and then set up your first game 2:45PM to 4:15PM: Guided open play to apply what you've learned Just as I learned this game as a way to hold onto community and tradition, this workshop offers more than just rules and strategy. It's an invitation to embrace the ritual of gathering, playing, and being together. No prior knowledge needed, our workshop is designed for beginners, though experienced players are welcome to join and refresh their skills.
